A fundraiser set up for the family of a man murdered in Kidbrooke has raised over £1,000 in less than 24 hours.

Leo Marcus, 22, from Greenwich was stabbed to death in broad daylight on July 10 in Tellson Avenue.

A teenager has been charged with the murder of Leo and will appear at the Old Bailey tomorrow (July 18).

Shackim Taylor, 19, of Gunyard Mews, was arrested on Sunday before being charged for murder, robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.

Police were called on July 10 at 2.40pm before he was pronounced dead in hospital at 8.35pm.

Marcus is believed to have been knifed in an alleyway and locals spoke to News Shopper about no longer feeling safe.

A GoFundMe, set up by a family friends to help with funeral costs has now raised over £1,247 (at the time of publishing) in less that 24 hours.

Speaking to News Shopper, the friend said: "I just want to try and get some good out of a bad situation.

"I truly cannot understand how you go from mugging someone to murdering them."

There has also been an outpouring of emotion on social media.

People cannot understand how this keeps happening and why nothing can be done about it.

Leo is said to have been a very intelligent man with a lot ahead of him.

Leader of Greenwich Council, Dan Thorpe, wrote on Twitter: "All my thoughts & prayers are with the family & friends of the young man who has lost his life this evening in @Royal_Greenwich

"This mindless, senseless violence has no place in our community & we will continue to do everything we can to eradicate it from our streets."
