The Ebbsfleet Academy have recently announced who will be taking over as Principal at the school, ahead of the first week of term.

Ms Gurjit Kaur Shergill, who grew up in North Kent, will start at the prestigious school from September after former principal, Alison Colwell, stepped down earlier this Spring.

Speaking on the news, CEO for Brook Learning Trust, Carol Morris said: "We are thrilled to announce Ms Gurjit Kaur Shergill as our new Principal for The Ebbsfleet Academy.

"She brings with her incredible commitment to secondary education and a wealth of leadership experience.

"Her drive and enthusiasm will see our academy go from strength to strength."

Ms Shergill, new Principal for The Ebbsfleet Academy said: "I’m extremely proud to be joining The Ebbsfleet Academy and have been made to feel very welcome by the school community.

"I’m looking forward to meeting and getting to know everyone and have been impressed and encouraged by the energy and passion I have seen from visiting the school.

"As a child living and growing up in North Kent I attended local primary and secondary schools, so I’m excited to have the opportunity to support and work within the local community.

"Community engagement and involvement in schools is such an important part of the educational process and ensures children achieve their full potential.

"By working together I will continue to take The Ebbsfleet Academy forward, whilst preserving its ethos and what makes it great."

Carol Morris also added: "The Ebbsfleet Academy has gone through significant change over the last seven years under the inspirational leadership of Alison Colwell and today is recognised as a well-run academy enabling students to reach their full potential.

"Although we are sad to be losing a great Principal, we wish Alison every success in the next stage of her career venturing overseas.

"It was important for the Trust to find a leader who can continue what we started, whilst also bringing experience to develop the next stage and we believe we have secured that in Ms Shergill."
