A teenager has been arrested following a fatal stabbing in Kidbrooke last week.

The 19-year-old was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Lambeth on Sunday evening, July 14.

He remains in custody at a south London police station.

Officers were called at shortly before 3pm on Wednesday, July 10 to reports of a stabbing on Tellson Avenue, Kidbrooke.

At the scene, a 22-year-old man was found suffering a number of stab wounds.

Despite the extensive efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at shortly after 8:30pm.

His next of kin have been notified and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

At this stage it is believed that the victim was stabbed in an alleyway on Tellson Avenue and a crime scene remains in place.

The Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command have launched a murder investigation, led by Detective Chief Inspector Richard Leonard.

DCI Leonard said: "We are working hard to establish the exact circumstances of this incident and while robbery is one potential motive we continue to keep an open mind.

"This attack happened in broad daylight and we urge anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to come forward and assist us with our investigation."
