Dartford Festival 2019 takes places today and tomorrow at Central Park in the borough with thousands of attendees expected to attend one of the South East's biggest free festivals.

British stalwarts The Lightning Seeds are headlining the main stage Saturday (July 13), while popular ABBA tribute Bjorn Again take the headline Sunday slot tomorrow.

Big crowds are expected for The Lightning Seeds later this evening.

The band are best-known for their massive hit "Three Lions", a collaboration with David Baddiel and Frank Skinner made for the Euro '96 football tournament that witnessed a renaissance during England's world cup successes last summer.

Also on the bill for the two-day, free-to-attend festival are the James Taylor Quartet, with the songwriter billed as "one of the great British instrumentalists of his generation, (who) has taken his trademark howling Hammond sound to the masses for over 25 years," by Dartford Borough Council, who are supporting the event.

A musical stage tribute to The Spice Girls called 'Wannabe' after the world-famous girl bands hit single is also expected to draw big crowds at the main stage on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a host of other family-friendly activities are on offer, including the Arts Tent, which this year is opening up the floor for children and adults to paint scenes from their favourite stories.

A pleathora of food and catering trucks will supply a great variety of food from the borough over the weekend.
