Two police officers and two paramedics who were responding to an "emergency" call got stuck in a lift en route to helping a man who apparently collapsed.

They were called to Kemnal Road in Chislehurst on Saturday, July 6, at 4.30am and emergency services were told that a man had collapsed behind closed doors, but this turned out to be false information.

Rather than take the stairs, the first responders used the lift which broke down untimely.

A police officer for Bromley police told News Shopper: "Fortunately a second unit arrived on scene a short time later and after ensuring that the person we had been called to wasn’t in need of immediate assistance.

"We waited for the London Fire Brigade so that they could free our colleagues from the lift."

Bromley MPS tweeted to say it was a "slightly awkward moment" before joking that video footage wouldn’t be published because of "fruity language" used by PC Lauren.
