More Bromley drivers have been named and shamed for exploiting relatives' Blue Badges.

A landmark 175 people have now been prosecuted in Bromley since 2016 as the council continues its crackdown on Blue Badge misuse.

Five more people have now been handed criminal convictions for using a disabled parking permit in the absence of the legitimate holder.

Three of the drivers are from Bromley while the other are from Deptford and Streatham.

More than 175 drivers have now been prosecuted, with the five recent most ones having to pay fines totalling £2,523.

Councillor Kate Lymer said: "I am stunned at the casual attitude of some drivers who seem to think it is okay to abuse a scheme designed to help those in genuine mobility need.

"It is especially upsetting that the majority of those caught are family members of the badge holder.

The executive councillor for public protection and enforcement added: "There is no excuse for the blatant misuse of Blue Badges, and it is a real shame that these drivers only seem to realise the consequences of their actions and the gravity of this offence when it is too late.

"Be warned that our zero-tolerance policy will continue and anyone caught using a badge in the absence of the holder will be prosecuted."

Routing on-street checks are ongoing throughout Bromley to discourage continued exploitation.

The drivers caught misusing a Blue Badge between November 21 and February 5 are:

  • Sheralyne Keenan, of Tillingbourne Green, Orpington
  • Huda Okuonghae, of Burnt Ash Lane, Bromley
  • Tanisha Jemmott, of Hillside Road, Streatham
  • Sandra Clarke, of Bronze Street, Deptford
