The organiser of a fundraiser for the family of a woman killed in a crash said she is "beyond grateful and overwhelmed" after raising more than £10,000 in 24 hours.

Darcy Bruce-Lawrence, 20, died after a crash on Friday night in East Hill Road and her mum, Donna Bruce, remains in hospital with fractures.

GoFundMe page to help the family financially has already inspired 10k worth of donations.

An updated statement read: "We are beyond grateful and overwhelmed by your generosity. So that we are completely accountable the money will cover funeral, childcare, groceries, general living expenses and any unforeseen costs while Donna can’t work and while Dal navigates this devastating season.

"We do hope the car insurance will ease this burden too. I won’t increase the target but any donations will still be gratefully received.

"I’m telling everyone today about your sacrificial generosity. You’ve blessed us all beyond measure. I will personally thank you all soon."
