Furious residents at an estate in St Paul’s Cray have been left without water for 15 days as the saga drags on.

The Clarion Housing Group residents, in Selwyn Place, were also left with dry taps four years ago and they are now facing the same problem.

Residents are being offered passes to the Walnuts Leisure Centre to shower and bottled water has been provided.

Laurence Gummery, 58, said he has complained to his MP after speaking to News Shopper last week.

After passing the two-week waterless mark, Laurence said: "I still only have a dribble in the sink downstairs.

"They are giving us bottled water but that doesn’t give us a shower.

"They dug my back garden up and also a neighbour’s and it’s a mess everywhere."

Another resident told News Shopper she suffers from mental health problems and she is being "pushed from pillow to post".

She has also contacted an MP and said the situation was causing great stress.

News Shopper understands people are being forced to travel to homes of relatives to shower.

In an update, a spokesperson for Clarion told News Shopper: "Resolving the issues affecting our residents as quickly as possible is of paramount importance but it’s a complex situation and the best way to deal with it and achieve a long-term solution is for us to replace the water main.

"Our teams are on site digging trenches to lay new pipes and we expect that the water supply will be restored during next week.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused and are in regular contact with residents to provide updates, ensuring their supply of bottled water is replenished and offering access to the Walnuts Leisure Centre to use their facilities.

"We will also be offering compensation for loss of amenities, where appropriate."
