A 16-year-old Eltham boy was one of almost 50 people arrested following a major crime crackdown operation across Essex and Kent.

Officers from Essex Police attended an address in Sycamore Field, Harlow, on Thursday, June 20, where they uncovered a quantity of suspected drugs.

The Greenwich teen inside at the address at the time and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs.

A 41-year-old man was also arrested at the scene on similar charges.

These seizures and arrests were part of a major police operation called Operation Zeal, which targeted those involved in drug dealing, knife crime and violent offences across Essex.

A similar operation was carried out earlier in the week by Kent Police officers who arrested close to 60 people across the county.

A total of 47 people were arrested in total as part of Operation Zeal, which began on Tuesday, June 18 and ran until June 20.

Thousands of pounds in drugs, cash and luxury items were seized during the crackdown.
