A man has been arrested following a shock hammer attack in Mottingham last night.

Police were called to Mottingham Road shortly after 6pm on June 21 following reports of a man being struck with a hammer.

On arrival, a 21-year-old man was found and treated by paramedics before being rushed to hospital.

A Met spokesman has said: "The 20-year-old man was taken to hospital. His condition has been assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing.

"A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH.

"He has been taken into custody at a south London police station."

The London Ambulance Service has been contacted for further information.
