A new unit has been opened at a private hospital in Beckenham to try and combat long waiting lists for treatments.

BMI The Sloane Hospital opened The Kelsey Day Unit on the Langley Ward this week and Councillor Peter Fortune said it would be an "excellent service".

The deputy leader of Bromley Council, and executive portfolio holder for education, children and families, said at launch: "It gives me great pleasure to officially open Kelsey Day Unit which will offer an excellent service to the local community."

Executive director of the hospital, Laurence Thurlow, added: "BMI The Sloane Hospital staff are proud to officially open the Kelsey Day Unit; this unit will provide additional capability to the hospital in the provision of a tailored and high quality customer centric service to our patients."

Private healthcare provider BMI Healthcare opened in 1970 and The Sloane Hospital currently has 32 inpatient and day care beds.
