A murder investigation has been launched after a man was fatally shot in Plumstead this afternoon. 

Police were called to a car park in Hartville Road at 4.54pm on June 14. 

Armed police, local officers, London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance attended. 

A man, believed to be aged in his late teens was found with critical injuries.

He died at the scene a short while later. 

Police are working to notify his next of kin as soon as possible.  

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course. Formal identification awaits. 

The Homicide and Major Crime Command will be leading this investigation in close partnership with police in Greenwich.  

Local residents can expect an enhanced police presence in the area. 

No arrests have been made. Enquiries are ongoing. 

A large crime scene remains in place and police are appealing for anyone with information on what happened to call them urgently on 101 quoting CAD reference 6004/14June.
