The Glades shopping centre is turning into a 'Festival of Colour' this weekend to raise money for sick children.

It will do so by taking part in One Great Day along with 200 other shopping centres on Saturday.

Money raised will go towards The Chartwell Cancer Trust Tiger Ward, supporting the children’s cancer and leukaemia unit and the paediatric oncology shared care unit in the Queen Elizabeth Hosppital in Woolwich.

Proceeds will also go to Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.

Mark Haynes, director of The Glades, said: "One Great Day is a fantastic event that allows our community to come together whilst helping children that really need support.

"Hosting an event like this is a really fun way to give something back to assist the wonderful work of The Chartwell Cancer Trust Tiger Ward and Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, which supports patients and families from across the UK."

Michal Noe, trustee of One Great Day, added: "We are thrilled to have The Glades as one of 200 shopping centres taking part this year, helping so many ill children across the country.

"We are so grateful to CBRE, Lockton, Montague Evans and Savills, our official corporate partners, whose sponsorship means that every penny put in our collection buckets goes directly to these worthy charities."

The Glades will be brightening up the shopping centre from 11am until 4pm on Saturday.

A giant wall of colour will be in place where people can boast their artistic skills and face painters will also be available.

A prize wheel, where for a small donation, can be given a spin for a chance to win some goodies.

One Great Day was established in 2014 and has so far raised over £500,000 for 113 children’s charities along with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
