The previously blocked M25 between junctions 3 and 4 has been reopened after a distressed man was spotted on the edge of a motorway bridge.

Officers from Kent Police were called shortly after 5am following reports regarding a troubled man on a footbridge above the motorway near Swanley.

As a result both carriageways of the M25 were closed.

The man attempted to leave the scene but was arrested following a short pursuit on the M2.

No injuries have been reported and enquiries are ongoing.

Both carriageways of the M25 were reopened at around 9.30am.
