An anonymous Facebook post about cruelty to ducks in Orpington went viral over the bank holiday weekend.

A witness shared her story to Orpington Gossip and reported seeing teenagers, two boys and two girls, throwing stones at ducklings in Priory Gardens on Saturday afternoon.

The post accused one of the culprits of saying 'ha, I killed one' before the boys stuck their middle fingers up.

"I am shocked that kids behave this way," the post read. "I wish I took a picture, but I honestly felt intimidated.

"People - please raise your kids with more manners and empathy. The mother duck was crying, and all the little ducklings got separated."

The post inspired more than 3,000 comments and more than 2,000 shares on Facebook.

Earlier this month the treatment of wildlife came into focus when disturbing images of boys appearing to hold dead ducks appeared online.
