A famed Locksbottom restaurant which reopened after a six-figure refurbishment in February claim business is booming.

Chapter One, in Farnborough Common, is one of the most popular and historic restaurants in south east London but regulars were left stunned last year after a shock one-star food hygiene rating.

However, the damning report was soon followed by the Food Standards Agency handing the restaurant back its five-star status after a reinspection.

Chef patron, Andrew McLeish, who took co-ownership in August 2017, oversaw a complete overhaul of the restaurant after a half a million pounds was invested.

It was closed for one month at the start 2019 and since February has welcomed customers to enjoy its new brassiere and bar area and private dining room.

Speaking about the year so far, Mr McLeish said: "The response from customers has been overwhelmingly positive. There are so many options when it comes to eating out and people are becoming more discerning.

"They want choice and exceptional food in a variety of formats – whether it’s a quick lunch, culinary experience or special occasion. Our customers love that we’re constantly evolving to meet their expectation."

Chapter One has served customers in Kent and south London since it opened in the 1930s.
