A LANTERN-led tour of one of Bolton's most historic and intriguing buildings is back by popular demand.

Victoria Hall will stage a heritage tour this October, after it sold out in record time last autumn.

Popular Victoria Hall historian Barry Massey will be leading visitors on a tour of the magnificent hall, which on Sunday was broadcast to a national audience in Songs of Praise Young Choir of the Year.

Those taking part will taken on a tour through the labyrinth maze of passages and hidden rooms in the underground passageways below the main hall and around all its spooky and mysterious rooms.

Events co-ordinator Josh Orme said: "The tour we had last year was so successful, it sold out in a few days and we put others on and they also sold out quickly.

"We had so many different people attending, including those who didn't know the Victoria Hall was here.

"Visitors are taken through all the 70 rooms including the basement and the rooms above."

As well as finding out the history of the building which dates back to 1901, visitors may even have their own mysterious encounter.

The tour party will be treated to a cup of tea — “to steady the nerves”.

Josh said: "We will be making the heritage tour an annual autumn event because it is so popular."

The tour, which is suitable for all ages, takes place on Friday, October 4 at 7pm. It finishes at 9pm.

Tickets are priced £7 and are available by ringing 01204 522569 or by visiting www.boltonmethodistmission.org.uk, where they can find out more about the tour.

Spaces are limited so book quickly.
