Plans have been submitted for 90 homes in Bridport.

Developer Gladman has put forward the application for land east of Dottery Road in North Allington, Bridport.

Proposals include an amenity area for recreational use, planting, landscaping, a public open space, children's play area and sustainable drainage system.

The 90 homes are of varying sizes, types and tenures and, according to Gladman, 35 per cent are affordable housing.

Gladman carried out a consultation on the plans in April, when it delivered leaflets to 615 homes in the area.

Access to the site is proposed off Court Orchard Road which, according to Gladman, is the ‘safest and most appropriate’ location to access the site.

Gladman says it will also provide a sustainable drainage to manage surface water run-off and make improvements to the existing public rights of way running through the site.

It claims the benefits of the development, if given the go-ahead, will be a ‘high quality landscape setting’ for existing and future residents of Bridport with new, public open space, recreational footpaths and cycle links for residents.

The proposed site lies in a flood zone, but the company says it will conduct in-depth research into the risk of flooding and mitigate any risk that is identified.
