Greenwich council is urging residents to check their blood pressure after partnering up with Charlton Athletic Community Trust.
Throughout May, in support of 'May Measurement Month', there will be free blood pressure checks across the borough.
This is part of the local ‘Be Sure of Your Blood Pressure’ programme, which has been running for almost two years now, and offers local residents quick, easy and convenient ways to get their blood pressure checked in blood pressure drop-ins around the borough.
Almost half of people who have high blood pressure don’t know it, so it’s important to get it checked.
High blood pressure can increase your risk of heart attack, stroke, heart and kidney disease and some forms of dementia, so it’s important to keep your blood pressure at a healthy level.
The ‘Be Sure of Your Blood Pressure’ mobile unit will be touring the borough throughout May, offering free and friendly advice and support to help live a healthy lifestyle, as well as offering free blood pressure checks in the following locations:
May 14 to May 17
Morrison’s, Thamesmead
10am to 4pm
May 21 to May 24
General Gordon Square, Woolwich
10am to 4pm
Many pharmacies around Greenwich give free blood pressure checks all year round to reduce your risk so there is no need to book an appointment, just pop in to your local pharmacy whenever is convenient for you.
Be sure to visit our Blood Pressure drop-in clinics around the borough to have your free blood pressure check and healthy lifestyle advice, and support to help keep your blood pressure at a healthy level.
