Another batch of Blue Badge misusers have been named and shames for using a disabled parking permit belonging to a loved one in their absence.

A warning has been issued as eight more motorists were prosecuted by Bexley Council for misusing the Blue Badge in the borough and were ordered to pay fines totalling £3,865, including court costs and surcharges.

In all eight cases, the Blue Badge displayed belonged to a relative and was used in their absence.

This brings the total number of motorists prosecuted for Blue Badge misuse offences to 38 since the launch of the campaign in 2016.

Speaking on the latest result, Bexley's Cabinet Member for Places Councillor Peter Craske said: "It is disappointing to learn that in all of these cases, the badge used belonged to a family member.

"Abuse of this kind affects the everyday lives of genuinely disabled users and cannot be tolerated, no matter what the circumstances are.

"If you drive on behalf of a Blue Badge holder as a relative, friend or carer, make sure you know the rules and use the badge accordingly.

"You must be able to account for the holder’s whereabouts when displaying the badge, it’s that simple."
