WALKERS can take a four-mile stroll around the countryside in aid of an animal shelter on a Greek island.
An ongoing campaign to fund and equip a shelter for abandoned cats and dogs in Skiathos will continue with a sponsored dog-walk on Sunday, May 12.
The four-mile walk through Netherbury will start at the Hare and Hounds, Waytown, at 10.30am and return there afterwards for refreshments.
Organisers Sue and David Wells, of Beaminster, have staged the walk for the past 24 years and were able to deliver more than £2,000 last year in proceeds to the shelter.
Sue said: “Everyone on the island continues to work very hard caring for unwanted and abandoned animals. This includes providing food, vet treatment and neutering with the ultimate aim of rehoming fit and healthy cats and dogs to countries throughout Europe and the UK.”
Newcomers are invited to join the walk but non-walkers who would like to lend support are welcome to call in at the Hare and Hounds during the morning.
