The Dartford Crossing was hit by lane closures and restrictive speed limits due to strong winds from Storm Hannah Saturday (April 27).

The Met Office issued yellow weather warnings across much of the UK, including Kent, as Storm Hannah made landfall, bringing heavy rain and strong winds through Saturday.

Highways England said they had temporarily closed several lanes on the Dartford Crossing.

Around 11am, the highways authority said that all lanes on the key crossing had reopened but that restricted 30mph speed limits remained in place while more strong winds as a result of the storm were expected.

Highways England said: "Dartford River Crossing -- A282 M25 - All lanes now open over the QEII bridge but 30MPH speeds remain in place."

In a later update posted around midday on Saturday, Highways England posted an update saying the previous speed restrictions has also been lifted, adding that they continued to watch the area for high wind speeds expected from Storm Hannah.

They added: "Temporary speed limits now removed as wind speeds have dropped. We will continue to monitor wind speeds."

Despite the temporary restrictions being lifted early on Saturday afternoon, the knock-on effect brought delays to the Southern side of the Dartford Crossing.

Highways England reported "congestion and delays" on the M25 anticlockwise entry slip at junction J1A at around 12.30pm on Saturday.
