British Transport Police have said the person who died after being struck by a train in Penge yesterday was a 64-year-old woman.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and police were called to Penge East Station at 11.50am to reports of a casualty.
A police spokesman also said the woman was from Sydenham.
The statement yesterday read: "Officers attended the scene, alongside paramedics however a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious.
"Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family. A file will be prepared for the coroner."
