A drug dealer has been jailed for two years after he was stopped while driving in the Isle of Sheppey.

Herbert Sewell, 38, of Church Street in Deptford, was driving in Minster, Sheppey, just before midnight in March 2018 when police became suspicious.

He immediately admitted to officers that he had class A drugs inside the car before Kent Police uncovered more than 40 wraps containing a mixture of cocaine and heroin.

Police Constable Nick Shaw said: "Sewell’s sole aim for visiting the Isle of Sheppey was to supply class A drugs to people struggling with substance abuse.

"There is no place for people who travel into our county to supply drugs and we are continually carrying out proactive enforcement activity to identify offenders and bring them to justice, as this case shows."

Sewell was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on April 12 after pleading guilty to possessing heroin and cocaine with intent to supply.

His blue Vauxhall Zafira was stopped in Scrapsgate Road last year when police received intelligence that the car was suspected of being used to supply drugs.

During the search, one of two mobile phones in the car was called 16 times from what is believed to be potential customers.
