Post Office has confirmed that their branch in Sidcup High Street will close on June 28.

The decision to close the post office follows the recent resignation of branch's dedicated postmaster, coupled with the landlord's decision to not let the building to Post Office after this date.

When contacted for comment, a Post Office spokesman said that although the situation is unfortunate, the company will be actively seeking a partnership with potential future retailers looking to lease the space

When asked to comment on the potential loss of services in Sidcup, a council spokeswoman said: "It is disappointing to learn that Sidcup Post Office is closing temporarily.

"The Council recognises the importance of Post Offices to local businesses and residents, and their critical role in communities.

"This closure will have an impact on Sidcup High Street at a time when all town centres are under increasing pressure and we will be speaking to the Post Office to understand more about their plans and how we might be able to help them."
