Two police officers were taken to hospital on Friday after a suspected shoplifter allegedly spat methadone and blood in their faces.
The man has been released on bail in relation to the reported assault and theft in Orpington.
He was approached by officers on the high street on Friday who suspected him of being involved in a nearby shoplift.

Cray Valley East MPS tweeted: "Suspect arrested #Orpington High Street for shoplifting. Unfortunately, two policemen being tested in hospital after methadone and blood spat in their faces."
An officer for Cray Valley East told News Shopper: "It happened on Orpington High Street on Friday afternoon when the suspect was being stopped and searched in relation to a nearby shoplifting.
"He is on bail at the moment in relation to assaulting two PCs and the theft."
