An Orpington resident who has celebrated her 104th birthday says "cooking from scratch and being stubborn" are the secrets to a long and happy life.

Rosina 'Rose' Clifton is a resident at Care UK’s Foxbridge House in Sevenoaks Road.

She celebrated her birthday with a glass of wine.

Rose has a huge family including two children, four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Carol McCormack, home manager at Foxbridge House, said: "We love to celebrate all of our residents here at Foxbridge House, especially on their birthdays, so it was terrific to be able to commemorate an occasion as special as Rose’s 104th birthday.

"It was so fantastic to see Rose celebrating this incredible milestone with her family and friends at Foxbridge House.

"She is quite a character and has built lovely friendships with residents and the team since moving here in 2017.

"It was wonderful to raise a glass to her on this special occasion."

Rose was born in Lambeth in 1915 and lived through both world wars and now spends a lot of her time knitting, cooking or watching television at her care home.
