THAMES Valley Police has revealed the results of its latest knife crime crackdown. 

During a week in March people were able to hand in knives to police stations across the county, with no questions asked.

Here's the breakdown of the figures: 

  • 686 knives were handed in across the Thames Valley - down from 733 surrendered last year
  • In Oxfordshire 345 knives were handed in overall

Where were the knives surrendered?

  • 54 were surrendered in Oxford city
  • 214 were surrendered in the Cherwell and west area
  • 77 were surrendered in south Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse
  • 60 test purchase operations were carried out at shops and supermarkets
