Plans to build more than 50 new homes in Swanley have been given the green light by Sevenoaks District Council.

The 56 new developments, proposed by Keepmoat Homes, will feature a combination of both houses and apartments and are now set to be constructed on greenfield land west of Cherry Avenue.

According to planning documents, 22 of the proposed homes will be designated as "affordable" with the original planning statement showing an even split of 11 one and two bedroom flats and 11 two and three bedroom houses falling under this category.

As part of the project, a number of associated parking spaces and a play area have been proposed for areas surrounding the sites, with the play area being a preferred option presented to local residents following a consultation period.

Only one objection was lodged by during the consultee process by Sports England on the grounds that the proposed works would mean result in the loss of land previously used as a playing field.

However, it's been noted by both the council and Sport England themselves that the site has been allocated for residential development since approximately 2000.

It is also case that the site has been fenced off from public access for the past 10 years has not been used for as a playing field for a number of years.
