A teenage Dartford design whizz has scooped the prestigious Royal Opera House Design Challenge award for costume for her innovative entry for the ballet production of Romeo & Juliet.
Charlotte Hooper, 15, tailored her unique garment for the character of Juliet after her Year 10 class at Wilmington Grammar was challenged to get creative with costumes and set-piece ideas as part of the national scheme.
Her design focused on using newspaper pages, folded into an eye-catching geometric design before being worked into a wire frame to create a minimal but dramatic silhouette.

Charlotte said: "I really enjoyed producing a costume for the Romeo and Juliet ballet, as I was able to be ambitious and experimental with my designs.
"Creating a life-sized costume from scratch was challenging, but once completed it was very rewarding."
Charlotte's printed prancer outfit is currently on display in the new Linbury Studio foyer at the ROH in Covent Garden.
As part of her prize, the school also received 35 tickets to attend a matinee of the Romeo and Juliet ballet as well as a backstage tour.
Comments from the ROH's judging panel noted Charlotte's ability to work to the brief and she "created a highly imaginative costume design".

Speaking with pride on her student's achievements Charlotte's art teacher, Tracy O'Donnell said: "I was delighted to see Charlotte rewarded for all her hard work.
"I have been so impressed with all of my Year 10 students, their enthusiasm and the quality of the work produced towards the Royal Opera House Design Challenge was fantastic.
"This was their first GCSE project and they really did rise to the challenge.
"Most importantly it has helped them to develop a huge range of transferable skills from research, design, analysis, problem solving and working to a professional brief."
Charlotte will receive her prize during a ceremony in the first interval of the ballet where she will be congratulated by Alex Beard, chief executive of the ROH and Lady Deborah MacMillan.
