More than 2,000 people have had their say on the possibility of a new urgent treatment centre being located at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford.

Last year, NHS Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) asked the public for their opinion regarding one possible UTC being located at Gravesham Community Hospital, to which respondents were largely in favour.

This latest round of consultation, which closed on March 17, has flaunted the idea of having a UTC based in Darent Valley Hospital.

The proposals, if implemented, would see the closure of a number of existing services within Gravesham and Dartford including the walk-in centre at the White Horse GP surgery in Vale Road and the Minor Injuries Unit at Gravesham Community Hospital.

Speaking on the consultation, local GP and CCG chairwoman Dr Sarah MacDermott said: "Local people’s views are extremely important to us and I would like to thank everyone who took the time to let us know what they think about these two options.

"We were very pleased with the number of responses we received and also that we were able to talk extensively to the public and seldom-heard groups.

"The CCG is now in the process of analysing the feedback. If we decide to take our plans further, this information will help us shape the options that would be presented in a full public consultation."

The responses are currently being collected and analysed by the CCG before brining their findings before the health overview scrutiny committee in the coming months.
