The condition of a teenager stabbed in Blackheath Tuesday is no longer life-threatening, Met Police said as they issued an appeal for witnesses today (March 27).

Early Wednesday Greenwich MPS issued a statement saying the 18-year-old victim was no longer in a life-threatening condition.

In the immediate wake of the stabbing his condition had been pronounced as "critical" but Greenwich MPS issued an update on his condition as they continued to appeal for information.

Greenwich MPS said: "The condition of an 18 yr old male stabbed in Thyme Close, Blackheath at 3.24pm on Tuesday has been assessed as not life-threatening."

The borough police force added that a police cordon remained in place, with the chance of minor disruption to the roads surrounding the cordon, as officers continued their investigations:

"Residents will see officers in the area as we continue to investigate.

"Anyone with info please call police on 101 quoting 4752/26March," Greenwich MPS said on Twitter.

No arrests have been made so far in connection to the stabbing, which was one of four stabbing to hit London during a single 24-hour period earlier this week.

The other knife crime incidents occurred in Hounslow, Tooting and Tottenham.

On Tuesday Greenwich MPS said they had implemented a 'Section 60' notice for the entire borough, scheduled to end Wednesday morning at 7am.

Section 60 gives the police enhanced powers to stop and search anyone they believe may commit a serious assault or someone they suspect to be carrying a dangerous weapon.
