Plans to bulldoze a site in Biggin Hill to make way for new homes have been backed by officers at Bromley Council.

Developer Alder Design and Build Ltd proposes four two and three-storey houses at land in Sunningvale Avenue, to the concern of neighbours.

This application is a revamp of a scheme already approved, with the developer proposing to replace a pair of previously planned detached houses with four part two/three storey semi-detached houses.

Neighbours say the new homes will be too big and overlook their properties, and that the development is in an area with a “parking crisis”.

Residents have also dubbed the proposed homes “overbearing” and criticised a lack of garden space for the new homeowners.

Developers have tried several times to push schemes through at this site, with proposals ranging from more than a dozen homes down to four.

In a new report set to be backed by councillors next week, officers say the scheme should be approved.

They have written: “Whilst this proposal would result in a more intensive development, it is considered that this impact could be adequately mitigated through appropriate landscaping along the interface  between the rear boundary of the proposed dwellings and the neighbouring Sunningvale Close properties.”

The scheme is too small to have to include affordable housing, and the developer hasn’t proposed any.

The plans will be debated at a meeting next Thursday, March 28.
