A 38-year-old man was found dead on a central Woolwich street this morning.
Police were called by the ambulance service at around 7.50am to reports that a man had been found dead on Calderwood Street.
At this stage, his death is being treated as unexplained, and a post-mortem examination is set to take place in due course.
Police are in the process of informing his next of kin.
Sainsbury's shut to allow police to investigate.
A spokesperson said: "We are aware there was an incident nearby to our Caulderwood Street store.
"The store was shut whilst police carried out investigations in the surrounding area and will reopen at 2pm this afternoon."
