Bluewater is celebrating it's 20th birthday and to mark the occasion they will be investing in local, community projects.

The popular shopping centre in Dartford has pledged to support 20 Good Deeds, investing both time and money in community initiatives throughout 2019 and in the years ahead.

Bluewater opened on March 16, 1999 and quickly because one of Europe’s leading retail and leisure destinations.

However, to say thank you to the communities that have continued to support Bluewater over the last 20 years, all projects will receive both funds and staff involvement.

Some of the good causes to benefit will include Bexley Deaf Centre, offering lip reading services to help people with hearing loss and The Hygiene Bank, providing essential toiletries to support those vulnerable and struggling within the local area.

Lizzy Hall, Founder of The Hygiene Bank said: “We all make financial choices, but for those living in poverty these choices can be extremely stark.

Our mission is to provide essential hygiene and personal care products to those who can’t afford them.

"With the help of Bluewater and Kent residents we’ll be able to further raise awareness of the need to tackle hygiene poverty and support those in need."

Due to the millions of people Bluewater welcomes, they now contribute £391m to the UK economy every year, and have been able to give thousands of people jobs.

And as if the good deed wasn't enough, Bluewater also celebrated with a 3m tall cake!
