A teenager has been arrested in Eltham on suspicion of sexual grooming of a child online.

A video on Facebook shows a group of people questioning a man who they claimed had been making contact with a 14-year-old girl on the internet and was on his way to see her.

The people behind the camera bait the man and eventually the police are called.

Officers were called to Avery Hill Road on March 12 at around 3.30pm after reports the public had detained the man.

A Met spokesman said: "A 19-year-old man had been stopped by members of the public who had allegedly been communicating with him online by posing as a teenager.

“Officers attended and following enquiries arrested the man on suspicion of sexual grooming of a child under 16.

“He was taken to a south London police station for questioning and has since been released under investigation. Enquiries continue.”
