Bromley Council has asked residents not to report street lights that are burning in the daytime after the company controlling the LED system went into administration.

This means LED street lights are temporarily on in the day and this may be the case for a few weeks.

Councillor William Huntington-Thresher explained: "Safety is of course paramount and leaving the LED lights on during the day is only a temporary option.

"We are asking that in this instance, day burning street lights are not reported to us as it will save everyone time and effort, especially as we are aware of this issue.

"Fortunately, this issue only affects the low energy LED lights which are the most efficient to run."

The council say they hope to have a new solution and new service provider soon.

Just under half of Bromley’s 27,000 street lights were recently fitted with Light Emitting Diodes (LED) to make them more energy efficient and to reduce future maintenance costs.

If you do enquire about street lights on in the daytime, the council says the likely response will be a "thank you" message before no further action is taken.
