The new cinema in Eltham is one step closer to completion and is due to open as early as next month.

Vue will be the 91st of its kind across the UK and Ireland and is set to open on Eltham High Street at the end of April.

The cinema has been in the pipeline for a while now, but the company hasn't been able to confirm when it would finally open. A nine-screen Vue cinema also opened in Bromley town centre last November.

The new Eltham venue will have six auditoriums and will hold a total of 857 seats which are a mix of standard and VIP space.

The project is part of a large regeneration of the high street to make it an entertainment destination.

Pizza Express and Nando’s have confirmed they will join the new six-screen cinema complex.

When the plans were initially released for the cinema, MP Clive Efford objected due to the licensing application, claiming the amount of people it would bring to the area late in the evening would disrupt residents.

Nando's has already started work on the restaurant and has just put in for planning permission for the neon sign that will guide you to chicken heaven.

There will also be a Sky Bar on the first floor of the cinema, so you have lots of space to hang out with your friends.
