The first ever full-time dementia-friendly café in the UK is reopening just four months after announcing its shock closure.

Mission Café, in The Mall in Bromley, opened four years ago but announced in November last year that high costs were forcing it to shut.

However, it will be back open come March 29 after a solution was found.

David Evans, Mission Care’s chief executive, said: "Due to incredible support from the local community since the announcement of the cafe’s closure, and after negotiations with our landlord, we are now in a very positive position and will be reopening.

"This will allow us to continue serving the community in Bromley which has always been our aim since opening our doors to the public in 2015."

Mission Care provides nursing home care across London and its café in Bromley offers a supportive environment for those with dementia.

The café’s manager, Agnes Parker, added: "We are thrilled to be able to continue providing such a welcoming space for the local community."

The café will open Monday to Fridays from 8am until 3pm and Saturdays from 9am until 4pm.

Mission Care has managed a charity shop on Chatterton Road in Bromley since 1993.
