Three people were hospitalised after a serious crash on the A2 near Dartford last night as two people were "ejected" from their car when it overturned.

Officers from Kent Police were called to the scene just before 9pm near the junction for Dartford Heath to close off the road while paramedics and fire crews attended to the injured passengers.

They reopened the road at approximately 2.30am.

A spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service said: "At 9pm on Sunday, we sent three ambulances and two response cars to a two-car road traffic collision on the A2 near Dartford.

"One of the cars rolled ejecting the two occupants.

"The air ambulance car also attended and accompanied the most seriously injured patient that was taken to King’s Hospital in London by ambulance.

"The other two patients were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for further treatment."

A Kent Fire & Rescue spokesman confirmed that three engines were dispatched to the scene to assist paramedics treating injuries and that no passengers were trapped within their cars.

All casualties were left in the care of SECAmb.
