Relatives of Blue Badge holders are being warned not to misuse their loved one’s parking permits following a number of successful prosecutions by the council.

Fourteen new cases have resulted in the prosecution of badge abusers with fines totalling £5,878.

In all 14 cases, the badge belonged to a family member and these recent prosecutions bring the total to over 150 prosecutions since the start of the council's crackdown campaign in 2016.

Bromley’s executive councillor for public protection and enforcement, Councillor Kate Lymer said: "Bromley’s zero-tolerance policy on Blue Badge misuse is continuing, with those misusing the Blue Badge facing a criminal conviction, a fine and the embarrassment of the offence coming to light among friends and family.

"I would also appeal to Blue Badge holders to make sure that your relatives do not misuse your Blue Badge, which will hopefully stop the casual attitude that we see with a number of drivers.

"This type of behaviour is still too common and has a negative impact on the integrity of the scheme, which we are determined to protect," she said.
