Police investigating the murder of Lewisham dad Dennis Anderson have arrested a man.

Mr Anderson was killed in the early hours of Sunday morning (February 10) in East Dulwich.

Police were called at around 2.35am to reports of a man stabbed in Lordship Lane, near the junction with East Dulwich Grove.

Mr Anderson, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene and a post-mortem examination gave cause of death as an incised wound to the neck.

A shop worker at the off-licence where the incident happened said Mr Anderson was attacked after a row about cigarettes.

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday and taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody.

Detective Inspector Domenica Catino, who is leading the investigation, said: "Although we have made an arrest, we still need to hear from anyone that may have been in the area on Sunday morning.

"Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could really help our investigation.

"We are aware of speculation around the motive for this attack and can now confirm that the suspect approached Mr Anderson in an off-licence shop before an altercation broke out and the suspect delivered a fatal attack.

"Our top priorities now are to support Mr Anderson's family."

Anyone with information is requested to call police in the incident room on 020 8721 4961.
