The big freeze which has had us all glued to the weather channel over the last week will now be replaced with a lot of rain.

The Met Office has announced that Britain will return to a "more traditional winter" in the coming weeks.

Snow, ice and plunging temperatures caused treacherous conditions from Thursday into the weekend across vast swathes of the UK.

With England recording the coldest night of the winter so far on Saturday night, Met Office forecaster Simon Partridge said "things are gradually getting back to normal".

On Wednesday it is meant to get up to 11C, practically boiling.

It is still very wet outside so please take care when out and about.
