A young boy has been knocked down outside a busy secondary school in Swanley this afternoon.

Officers from Kent Police were called to the incident in St Mary's Road at around 3pm following reports of a child being hit by a van.

A spokesman for Kent Police has said: "Officers and the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene and the child was checked for injuries.

"His parents attended the scene and he was not required to attend hospital for further medical attention."

Local resident, Debbie Nichols, said that it occurred outside the Orchard Academy as her cousin phoned her to check as her son attends the school.

The boy's sister, Jade Ranger, has since been in touch with this reporter to say her brother, named Charlie, is fine and is at home resting.
