A Locksbottom restaurant which endured a rocky year will soon reopen after being closed for a major refurbishment.

Chapter One, in Farnborough Common, suffered a shock in September when food inspectors gave it a damning one-star food hygiene rating.

However, things have improved dramatically since then after it was handed back its five-star status last month.

Half a million pounds has also been invested to give the prestigious restaurant a complete overhaul.

It closed on January 2 and the big interior reveal will be on January 21 before diners can enjoy a new terrace area, which opens in February and has a retractable roof and outdoor heating.

Co-owner Andrew McLeish said: "The relaunch gives us the opportunity to showcase the versatility of Chapter One’s offering.

"Whether it’s entertaining clients, celebrations in the private dining room, a quick lunch in the brasserie or cocktails on the terrace, our aim is to create an enjoyable and memorable experience with plenty of choice, fantastic service and quality our customers can depend on, in a relaxed yet sophisticated setting.

"We know a lot of the local community travel up to London in search of a good night out with great food and a vibrant atmosphere, but we’re confident that the new-look restaurant will provide the same experience here in Orpington."

Andrew took over from the previous owner with his business partner Marcel Faulstich in August 2017.
