A 19th century boozer in Foots Cray could get a fresh lease of life with a block of flats, if a proposed scheme is approved.
Plans to turn the closed Red Lion in Foots Cray High Street into homes have been submitted.
The pub already has houses above it, but now developers want to ditch the watering hole altogether.
In total the developers want nine flats, seven of these being in addition to the two already standing.
A new building would be built behind the pub, in keeping with the historic surroundings, according to the developers.
The Red Lion pub dates from the 19th century but was built around part of an earlier structure, probably from the 16th century, according to planning documents.
The boozer has been “listed”, meaning it has been given special protection from some developments.
If given the green light by the council, the developers would build four one-bedroom, one two-bedroom and two three-bedroom apartments.
