A prolific Catford burglar who pointed a gun at a man sat in his car and demanded his watch has been jailed for 13 years.

Adam Yaroo, 32, of Catford Hill, was sentenced for various offences in Sidcup, Croydon and Catford.

Police started investigating after a 51-year-old man, who was sat in his car, was approached by a man on a motorcycle.

Yaroo pointed his gun at the victim and demanded his watch on London Road in Croydon on March 21.

He was identified before being arrested on May 2 at home where the handgun used in the robbery along with cash and proceeds from other burglaries were seized.

Rolex watches, pearly diamonds, gold and silver jewellery, computer tablets, phones, cameras and a car were among the goods stolen by Yaroo.

Detective Inspector Dan O’Sullivan said: "I hope today’s sentence acts as a deterrent to criminals who use firearms.

"During the March robbery, he pulled a firearm on a member of the public in broad daylight. This type of terrifying, brazen criminality is rare but it is our job to bring people like Yaroo to justice, and today’s sentence is the culmination of the diligent work of the investigation team."

Yaroo was sentenced for robbery and imitation firearm offences and also for being in possession of cannabis and driving while disqualified.
