A Goldsmiths University student has reminded us what Christmas is all about through an inspiring act of kindness.

Mansoor Ahmad, 30, started collected 50ps around seven months ago so he could eventually help the homeless once the cold started to bite.

The TV journalism student raised £500 before he spent it all on those struggling this winter.

He told News Shopper: "I have been thinking for a long time I want to do something for the homeless.

"People are sleeping outside in the cold and it is very bad. We need to share with them."

Mansoor, who lived in east London before moving to Lewisham for uni, was determined to help because of the joy his own family brings during the festive season.

He used the money to prepare 31 bags of food and necessities such as hygiene products, first aid kits and warm clothes.

The student went around Lewisham on December 12 to share his gifts.

"I feel very happy," he said. "I just sat and talked to them. They always told me something about themselves.

"It is very cold and they just don’t have a home to go to."

Mansoor and his friend are now planning new ways to help rough sleepers in the new year.
