Friends of a murdered 18-year-old from Welling have been paying tribute to the "lovely, kind boy".

Jay Sewell was attacked in Alwold Crescent, Eltham, at around 9.50pm on December 11 and later died in hospital.

Eight people aged from 16 to 56 have now been arrested in connection with the murder.

This tragedy is one of two murders that took place in Greenwich in the past week, with 18-year-old Aron Warren being stabbed to death in Prior Street.

Friends of Jay have now paid tribute to him.

Julie Morgan told News Shopper: “I didn’t know Jay that well but I know him from people I know. He was a lovely boy and just loved to help people and have fun.

“He literally doesn't deserve this whatsoever and I can’t believe it. I just feel so sad about it and you will be missed Jay and always be in our heart. I am thinking of the family and friends at this time.”

Jess Lowe said: “On behalf of a lot of his mates, Jay was a very kind person and was loved by many. He always made everyone laugh and brought happiness to everyone around him.

“I couldn’t say a bad word about him. It’s truly a shock to us all and I can’t imagine life without him. He will be missed dearly.”

Tony David-Patrick O’Brien said: “Jay was a very respectful and loving person, he was always happy, he just wanted to have a good time and everyone else to have a good time.

"It is just a shame he had to leave us all to early.”
