A burger restaurant in Hayes has been named the Bromley business of the year, despite only being open since March.

Hello Burger, on 34 Hayes Street, also scooped the best newcomer prize at the Bromley Business Awards last month at Oakley House.

Tony Adams, managing director, told News Shopper: "I’m over the moon. It is awesome. We were quite surprised to win best business overall because we are quite new.

"It is such a big deal for us to be honest."

He also revealed the secret to why his business outshined the rest.

"We focus on quality and simplicity. My goal is to get the team to love what they do and for guests to then love what we do.

"With that anchor point, decision making is easy. This is who we are, let’s make sure guests love us."

He added: "There’s nothing better in this industry than seeing people have a great time."

Tony used to a be a bar tender and was crowned 'Cocktail King' on ITV’s This Morning.

He said making cocktails was a big part of Hello Burger's success.

"I am really passionate about it and it is something we do really well. Cocktails add to families staying and having a drink and a natter after a meal.”

The branch was originally launched in Sidcup, and Tony says working in Hayes has been fulfilling.

"From a completely selfish point of view, my wife had her tenth birthday in that restaurant, she is now 30.

"That’s quite awesome. I have worked in Beckenham for a number of years and live locally now. It is really nice."

News Shopper and The Glades shopping centre are two of the sponsors for the annual awards ceremony.

Dee Scully, of The Glades, commented: "Selecting a winner-of-winners from among the successful cohort of category winners was by no means an easy or simple task.

"We are thrilled to name Hello Burger as tonight’s business of the year and, ultimately, our ambassador for business across the Bromley borough for the next twelve months. Many congratulations to them."
